In addition, travelers who have had 270 days or about nine months since their last COVID-19 vaccine dose are no longer considered fully vaccinated and are required to receive a booster before traveling to enter Italy under the “fully vaccinated” designation and its rules. Those with booster shots are considered fully vaccinated indefinitely.
Travelers must also fill out a passenger tracking form and can also apply for a health card, which can be used to enter places and attractions.

From 1 March, all travellers, aged 6 and over, must show one of the following:
- proof of vaccination OR
- evidence of a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours before entering Italy or a negative rapid lateral flow test taken within the 48 hours before entering Italy OR
- a COVID-19 recovery certificate, certifying that you have recovered from COVID-19 in the last 6 months.
If you cannot present evidence of vaccination or a negative test OR a COVID-19 recovery certificate, you will:
- travel to your final destination in Italy by only a private transport
- remain in self-isolation for 5 days
- take another PCR or rapid lateral flow test at the end of the 5 days’ self-isolation. If the test is negative, then you can finish your self-isolation
- We also remind you that, the passengers entering Italy by plane, ferry, train or coach must must be equipped with FFP2 mask in order to enter the country

Regarding minors:
All children under 6 years of age entering Italy are always exempt from the pre-departure swab; they are also exempt from the fiduciary isolation if the accompanying parent with whom they are travelling is not subject to this obligation.
All minors aged 6 years or older in possession of a green Covid-19 certificate of completion of a vaccination series with an Ema-authorised or equivalent vaccine or of successful recovery follow the same rules for adults.
