1. Saturnia
Saturnia is one of Italian most famous hot springs destinations. Its thermal baths, with 37° hot water, natural pools and the Cascate del Mulino waterfalls, are nature’s stunning gifts. During the summer months, you have to share the springs with hundreds of tourists, but from December onward, you can say goodbye to the huge crowds and enjoy the suggestive steam rising above your head with almost no one to disturb you. Saturnia in springtime is just paradisiacal!
2. Rome
If you are planning to visit Italy in spring, Rome should be one on top of your list. The Italian capital is wonderful during springtime and the weather makes pleasant every stroll around the archeological ruins and the churches. Also, during spring it is so nice spending time wandering through the beautiful parks of Rome. This is why spring is ideal for strolling around the cave churches of Matera and its hilly streets.
4. Syracuse
There is a simple reason why you need to visit Syracuse in spring: the Festival of the Greek theatre! This is a unique cultural event were ancient Greek drama revived on the stage in the local archaeological Park. Attending the shows during the festival is one of the most incredible experience you can have. Besides the festival, Syracuse is a stunning destination, with its beautiful churches, mythological places and catacomb.
5. Milan & Lake Como
Milan in spring is great if you wish to avoid the heat or crowds of summer. Sipping coffee sitting outside a café in Piazza Duomo or having an aperitif in Navigli, are all part of a spring holiday in Milan. And you have some extra time, what about a day trip to Lake Como? You can visit the beautiful villas and villages around the lake and admire the colorful flower laden balconies.
